Hobby Nest Buyer Guidelines

Hobby Nest is a community-driven marketplace designed for buying leftover and unused craft and hobby supplies. To ensure safe and smooth transactions, please follow these guidelines when making purchases.

What You Can Buy on Hobby Nest

• Craft and hobby supplies such as fabric, yarn, beads, paper, paints, puzzles, kits, and tools.
• Opened or partial supplies as long as the seller discloses details in their listing.
• Bundles or lots of items (great for destashing or trying new projects).

What You Should Not Expect to Buy

• Finished handmade goods (Hobby Nest is for supplies only).
• Unsafe, broken, or unusable items.
• Prohibited items such as chemicals or hazardous materials.

Payments Trades & Transactions

• Direct Payment: Buyers and sellers arrange payment directly (e.g., PayPal, Venmo, Zelle). Hobby Nest does not process payments.
• Trades: If participating in a trade, confirm the items being exchanged, shipping responsibilities, and timing before mailing.
• Payment Safety: Always use secure payment methods that offer buyer protection. Avoid sending cash or using untraceable payment methods.
• Keep Records: Confirm payment amount and details in the Hobby Nest messaging system for clarity.

Hobby Nest does not handle payment transactions between buyers and sellers and cannot issue refunds. Payment must be arranged directly between the seller and the buyer. We strongly recommend using secure and trusted payment methods such as PayPal Goods & Services, Venmo, or other reputable services to protect both parties.

Hobby Nest is not responsible for any payment disputes or lost funds, so it's important to agree on payment terms and methods before completing a sale.

Shipping & Pickup

• Shipping Arrangements: Work with the seller to agree on shipping costs, methods, and timing before sending payment.
• Tracking: Request tracking information whenever possible for peace of mind.
• Local Pickup: If arranging local pickup, always meet in a safe, public location.

Communication

• Use the Hobby Nest messaging system to contact sellers.
• Ask questions before buying to clarify condition, size, or quantity.
• Be respectful and timely in your responses.
• Trust your Instincts: If a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is. Always verify the condition, quantity, and authenticity of an item before committing to payment or a trade. Ask the seller for a photo of the item with the current date to confirm it is in the condition described. Use secure payment methods and communicate clearly with the seller to protect yourself.
• Ask question and trust your judgement: Don’t hesitate to ask the seller for details about the item. If the answers don’t satisfy you, feel free to walk away from the transaction. 

Returns & Disputes

• Returns and refunds are not managed by Hobby Nest. Buyers and sellers must work out these arrangements directly.
• If you are unhappy with a transaction, first try to resolve the issue respectfully with the seller.
• Report suspicious behavior or rule violations to Hobby Nest support.

Community Standards

• Respect sellers’ time by asking clear questions before committing to purchase.
• Pay promptly once an agreement is made.
• Leave honest and polite feedback in your communications.
• Help foster a positive, supportive space for crafters and hobbyists.

Security and Reporting

• Hobby Nest requires a subscription to buy or sell as a security measure to help reduce scams.
• While this paywall helps protect the community, it does not guarantee that all users are trustworthy.
• Always be cautious, use secure payment methods, and report any suspicious activity to Hobby Nest support immediately.

These guidelines help us keep Hobby Nest a safe and enjoyable place for everyone. When they aren't met, account access may be adjusted as needed.
